My name is Matt Taylor, I'm an illustrator and I live by the sea. I like drawing pictures for money, riding my bike, walking on the beach, appreciating comic books and rummaging through thrift stores for old photos. This blog is for works in progress, assorted drawings that don't have a home yet and things which don't quite fit in my folio. Speaking of which, you can see my full blown folio by directing your website towards www.matttaylor.co.uk
Quarterly is a rather nifty little subscription service that I became aware of a little while ago. Basically, the deal is that you pay a quarterly subscription (see what they did there) to a creative of your choice from their selection, and four times a year you get something wonderful in the mail. Their current curators include go getters and trend setters from the world of design and art to science and sustainability.
One of their curations which has now sadly just wrapped up was with the blogger/writer/creator Bobby Solomon (who you should know form his fount of web-wisdom The Fox Is Black). Bobby has been kind enough to feature my work on his blog in the past and a while back I designed a desktop wallpaper for him.
For his final mailout, he asked me to work with him in designing a sci-fi themed art print, and that’s what you’re looking at above. I of course was only happy to oblige, and after batting some points of reference about we settled on my take on a sci-fi-Bond-girl. The final print was four colors on a charcoal grey paper and once they have winged their way across the atlantic i shall be blogging pictures of them because they look gorgeous!
Thanks again to Bobby for inviting me to be involved, and keep an eye out for his new sci-fi themed project that will be happening in the near future…
I will have a very small number of these in my webshop in the next few weeks, if you’re interested drop me a mail.
