My name is Matt Taylor, I'm an illustrator and I live by the sea. I like drawing pictures for money, riding my bike, walking on the beach, appreciating comic books and rummaging through thrift stores for old photos. This blog is for works in progress, assorted drawings that don't have a home yet and things which don't quite fit in my folio. Speaking of which, you can see my full blown folio by directing your website towards www.matttaylor.co.uk
It’s that time of the year again when the great and the good put their pens to paper and draw things inspired by classic and cult movies. That’s right, its… Crazy 4 Cult!
I can tell by some of your bemused faces that you’ve not heard of Crazy 4 Cult. Well for the uninitiated, it’s an art show that’s entering it’s sixth year with the theme being cult and classic movies, hosted by the very nice people at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles (sort of - I’ll explain in a second). There’s a book collecting the art from the first few years you can get here - it’s a worthwhile investment.
This year however, Gallery 1988 are switching coasts and installing themselves in New York for the duration inviting almost 200 artists with them.
Which is a roundabout way of saying that the picture above is my contribution. This year I decided to take on the really rather great Easy Rider and pay tribute to Captain America and his mighty steed.
It will be available to buy both at the gallery space and through the Gallery 1988 web shop from August 9th when the show opens in and edition of 30 (printed once again buy the good folk of Parliament of Feathers). Expect another blog/tweet closer to the time to remind you…
